Coronavirus Update

Posted on 25 March 2020

Coronavirus is the most talked about issue which is sadly currently occurring in our society. Today I would like to inform you exactly the current situation our country faces as we have entered a lockdown phase.

Monday evening the PM announced a near-total lockdown for the UK. He announced that the public will only be allowed to leave your homes for only necessary reasons such as:

  • Essential shopping for household items
  • If you need medication
  • If you require to go to the hospital
  • If you are a key worker

As of Monday, 23rd all shops selling non-essential goods, including clothing and electronic stores, libraries, playgrounds, outdoor gyms and places of worship were shut down. All gatherings of more than two people in public have been banned, police will be issuing fines and breaking up gatherings for those who do not comply with the rules.

During this time you should stay at home, as this is the only way to reduce the spread of this highly infectious virus. This means working from home, people should only be going to work if this necessary (e.g if you are a key worker). If you are not able to work from home, you should work in an environment where you are distanced from other people of at least 2 metres. You should not be using public transport unless this is necessary, as these sorts of environments are breeding grounds for the virus to spread.

Make sure to practice good hygiene; by washing your hands often, not touching your face with unwashed hands, coughing and sneezing into a tissue at all times.

If you, or someone in your household, has suspected symptoms of the Coronavirus – a continuous cough and/or fever; you will need to self isolate indoors for 14 days.

Please help to stop the spread of the virus!
